“The Twists and Trysts of Tosca”
“If turnabout is fair play, then it also makes for great opera.” Join Deborah Burton, Assistant Professor of Music at Boston University and an originator of the interdisciplinary conference “Tosca 2000” in Rome, honoring the centennial of Puccini’s opera, and the bicentennial of the events that inspired it, for an exploration of the unexpected in Tosca. Tables turn and irony abounds in this beloved classic. You might end up looking at it in a whole new way.
Dr. Burton’s presentation will be followed by a mini-performance of excerpts from Tosca.
