The Daughter of the Regiment
By Gaetano Donizetti

This is a story about a girl who had an army of people telling her what to do… Our one-hour version of Donizetti’s comic masterpiece is a wonderful way to introduce opera to young people. Sung in English, our star is a young orphan, Marie, who was adopted and raised by a regiment of French soldiers. Now a teenager, she’s smart, sassy, and headstrong, defying cultural convention to wind up with her true love in the end. Oh, and she can sing! With laugh-out-loud spoken dialogue and some of the catchiest, most rousing music ever composed for the stage, The Daughter of the Regiment will be an unforgettable cultural experience for children and adults of any age!

“Cool show! I love the person who played Marie. I thought she was very convincing. …Go Marie go! Keep up the good work!”
-Alexa Frongillo, BFCCPS, Grade 4
“The Daughter of the Regiment was the best performance ever! What I liked about it was the singing. It is very unique and is like something I never heard before. I think that the solos sounded very nice and you could tell how they felt when they sang it. I LOVED IT!!”
-Kelcie Cheverice, Ashford School, Grade 5
