Boston Lyric Opera seeks candidates for an internship in its Production Department working with Computer Drafting and general Production preparation. Responsibilities include working with the Production Manager to prepare scenic drawings, maintaining and updating BLO drawing templates, and assisting in the distribution of drawings and drafted materials. The ideal candidate will work closely with our 4 person Production Department and will assist in the success of the department while gaining practical experience in the theatrical production field.
Ideally this would be 8-10 hours a week over 1 or 2 days a week. Flexible Schedule. Hours available in both fall and spring semesters. This is an unpaid position, class credit is available.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of AutoCAD and basic computer drafting skills required. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented and possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and computer skills. A desire for increased knowledge and appreciation of the technical aspects of the performing arts is strongly preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft desktop applications strongly preferred. Flexibility, attention to detail, bottom-line orientation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high pressure, collegial environment are required.
Excellent opportunity for expanded responsibility within the Productions Department based on aptitude and interest. Highly recommended experience for those people interested in pursuing a career in Theatrical production or administration.
